What do you think of US school system?
Do the kids just have too much freedom?
Are we just TOO corrupted?
Is America, who is the most powerful country currently, becoming the STUPIDEST country?
plz post your opinions

Well the United States is a free country. Everything is done through the law. It's all written down.
It's not the freedom of the kids. It is how the parent raise the kids. If the parent can't raise the kid well, than the kid becomes what he is.
veevee18 - May 19, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
but isn't the school system is also letting the kids get out of hand?
Edison - May 19, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
no the american teaching method is much better than the method in other countries. It lets the student expand on their thoughts.
It's still the parents who did not teach their child well from early stage on and did not talk to them about things they should or should not do.
Ones conscience should let one see right or wrong. Most of the kids just ignore their conscience and do stupid things.

i think we could make the skool systems more tuff...like in arg. skool is hard, man. and i think that a big thing that is missing in our skools is RESPECT. i think they should teach a bunch more of that...and teach about other countries as a requirement ...not just one yr..and they shoujld teach diff cultue so people can understand each other better....i mean c'mon th us is like a soup of diff cultures

Well public school is public. I been to public school for like 3 years and transferred to Private school. Private are much more strict :dead:

yes it's true that the US lets us EXPAND our mind
but sometime there is a limit to things
i know we're all older now, and know what's right and what's wrong
but school starts when kids are well KIDS
all the RICH schools get all the right equipments and a nice peaceful environment to study in
while, kids in the GHETTO gets to hear shootins and rape, and fites EVERDAY
i mean, it's not the parents FAULT all the time,
kids get influenced by their friends and their SOCIETY.
i'm sure the parents in that lives in poor neighborhoods would want a better life too, and to let their kids grow up and have a better education
but most of the POOR schools, are not gettin even the necessity of what a school needs, LIKE A PENCIL....ok a bit extreme
what i mean is like a DECENT computer, or a table that won't fall wen write on it.
but the government is not doing anything about those schools in poor cities!!!!!

i blame it on the parents. why? well lets see. not to be racist or anything but for all of the white schools, they get more money. but the OTHER schools we don't get stuck with anything but crap... why? it's because our parents aren't involved in ANY of the school's activities. my teacher's child goes to a rich school and whenever there is a school event such as open house or a parent meeting, she tells us that she cant find ANY parking at all. the parents are more active, they have more of a voice in what their school gets and what their school's activities should be. for all of us 'immigrants'... our parents can't speak english well and if they can, they choose not to go to our school's activities. so if you want a better school system, get ur parents to learn english OR get ur parents out of the house and AT you're school.
yanyan - May 20, 2006 12:22 AM (GMT)
well, i guess it depends on the school. like some schools are good and smoe are bad. I go to a school which requires you to test to get in, but it is on the same campus as a pretty bad school so their student are really out of hand. One part of the education is parents responsibility and the other part is the teacher. Depends on how strict they expect you to do your homework and actually learn. There is too much freedom in the US and that's why there are so many that don't go to college. In China, there teachings are soo strict that it also a bad thing. They push kids way too much. I definitely like the US better and since my school is striter than other, its pretty good.
tuyet - May 20, 2006 01:43 AM (GMT)
lol I blame the society more!!!! because kids use to be influence by the society!!!! Sure that school and parent have their duty too!!!

i think the parents of the poor city would love to join in too
but i doubt they have time to go to like a PTA meeting when they get barely enough to eat or their money to buy to clothes

xCHELLy - May 20, 2006 06:22 AM (GMT)
You can't really blame the parents for raising the kids bad. Some parents just work, hoping to make enough money for a liviing so they are barely home with their child. What you can blame is their luck when they were born. Some were born rich and some weren't. Kids, I think they have a limit on how they can express their thoughts in school really. I think the US school system is pretty good. Not many places have public schools, it's all the rich that can go to school. Take advantage of what you're getting right now.
tuyet - May 23, 2006 04:40 AM (GMT)
ur right xCHELLy, but sometime parent need to do there duty also!!!
yanyan - May 23, 2006 02:17 PM (GMT)
i guess everyone has part of the responsibility, including the kid.
Yashuo - May 29, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
We shouldn't blame the education system or kids. It's the society as a whole who is responsible for the 'mishaps'. To me everyone is responsible. It's easy to blame someone, but what do we do by ourself to change this? Probably nothing...
SO PLEASE STOP to say something irresponsible like: It's the parents fault!
I think it's a vicious circle. When 'problem' this generation become parents most of them probably won't raise their children in a different way they've experienced so far. Problems will create problems. T
o overcome this, we should tackle the problem to the root: our society! In other words.. we have to change our attitude and become all more responsible.

heyhey, like wat the triplex said: "" c'mon, the video games are the only education we have got!" lolzzz

I think freedom doesn't relate to stupidity. Too much freedom don't cause stupidity I believe, it's the lack of discpiline that cause some people to be too lazy and thus results in stupidity. I believe there's nothing wrong with the teaching system/freedom. Compared to Asian education system, Americans should have a better one. However maybe the Americans are losing in terms of the disciplinary.
Asian schools sometimes take it to the extreme leve O.O like for e.g. I was punished last time (when I was studying in indo) for only forgetting to bring my textbook to class. It is extreme and unecessary but it teaches the children to be discipline.
cutecat18 - June 20, 2006 05:17 AM (GMT)
yeah I get the school system somtime isn't the best they got. I mean it public it always shorten in money. So it can't be the best in some area. It also depend on the teachers to teach the students. sometime the teacher is really great but some are just stupid and lazy and don't care. So I think it more toward school then parent but also maybe parent also part of the problems
cutecat18 - June 22, 2006 12:36 AM (GMT)
Well I think the school system is ok. I mean some of the puntionment are a little harsh at my school like if u get tardy 3 times than its a lunch detanion, but its kind of for our own good so that we dont have to miss alot of stuff they teach at school. and I sometime think that The U.S. is becoming the stupidest country cause I think we have to much freedom and we think we can do whatever we want. Not saying that we shouldn't have freedom, but that wasn't what the word freedom in this country meant. Like u just can't go rob a bank and say that its a free country so I can do whatever I want. NO! Thats not how it works.Yes its a free country but it has rules and laws too. and u have to obey it to be able to do whatever. I dont know if this makes sence or not but yeah that how I feel about it.
littlemonkey - June 22, 2006 12:39 AM (GMT)

I agree with you freedom and stupidity are two totally different topics. Would you rather live in an environment that is strict with no chance for self expression? We don't know how lucky that we are to live in freedom. It's just discipline that we need. Saying that we are turning stupid is really ignorant...
Linn - August 13, 2006 10:15 PM (GMT)
There's pros n cons to having freedom for the kids in school...but I think it's still good for the most part that many kids can express n expand their thoughts w/o limitation
I don't think US is becoming a stupid country cuz many ppl there go to school longer n receive higher education than many ppl in some countries..
trangsy - September 25, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
well it's true we have FREEDOM to choose TO BE STUPID OR SMART...not like some country, hint hint hint hehehe just learn how to memorize, could not reason or expand the mind
reganig - October 2, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
i don't understand how the US can be the "stupidest" country. the US is a world leader and the top universities throughout the world are in the US...
