Lotus Lantern

An international cast from Singapore, China, Taiwan and Korea display their acting chops in this colourful drama of mythical legends and deities. Stars Cao Jun (from China) as Chen Xiang, Jiao En-Jun (Taiwan) as Erlang Deity, Liu Xiao Qing (China) as Wangmu Niangniang, Yvonne Lim (Singapore) as Ding Xiang and Park Mi-sun (Korean) as Sanshengmu
Unsuccessful exam candidate Liu Yanchang meets and falls in love with female deity Sanshengmu (Park Mi-sun) and the couple marries. When Sanshengmu’s elder brother, the Erlang Deity (Jiao En-Jun) hears about their union, he decides to punish his sister and break up the couple. Although Sanshengmu manages to defeat Erlang with the help of the Lotus Lantern, the latter is not about to give up this easily. He makes three attempts to steal the lantern, finally making off with it when Sanshengmu is in labour, subsequently trapping her under Huashan (Mt Hua). Sanshengmu’s maid, Fairy Caiyun, flees with Liu Yanchang and the baby, Chen Xiang. Fortunately, Erlang thinks they are dead and stops his persecution.
Fairy Caiyun secretly watches over Chen Xiang and his father. By a sad twist of fate, Chen Xiang (Cao Jun) one day saves Erlang’s Celestial Dog, which recognizes Liu Yanchang and informs his master, starting a wild dog chase. Led by Fairy Caiyun, Liu Yanchang and Chen Xiang travel to Luoyang, the East Ocean and Cuipingshan (Mt Cuiping), hoping to seek refuge but never managing to shake the Celestial Dog off their trail. Eventually, the desperate Chen Xiang is rescued by Nezha who has returned to Earth to accept offerings at the temple dedicated to his worship. Upon learning about Chen Xiang’s plight, Nezha is filled with sympathy for him and decides to help him sound out Sanshengmu’s whereabouts from Erlang. Meanwhile, Celestial Dog destroys Nezha’s temple with the help of the Six Freaks of Meishan (Mt Mei). Taking advantage of the situation, Nezha falls out with Erlang and lures him away. Nezha takes Chen Xiang to Huashan to see Sanshengmu. Erlang lodges a complaint with the Celestial Court; as punishment, Nezha has to face the wall for 500 years. Chen Xiang escapes from Huashan. Out of hunger, he steals food from the altar Pigsy has prepared for Tu Xingsun and his wife. After exchanging blows with each other, Chen Xiang and Pigsy become friends. Celestial Dog soon shows up with Erlang who takes Pigsy prisoner. The Tus rescue Chen Xiang and suggest he learn some new skills from the Monkey God, Sun Wukong. Pigsy, who has just been released by Erlang, no longer dares to interfere in Chen Xiang’s feud with Erlang and refuses to divulge Sun Wukong’s whereabouts. Tu Xingsun and Fairy Caiyun, knowing Pigsy’s soft spot for Chang E, seek the Moon Goddess’s help to convince Pigsy. Sun Wukong, who has attained immortality, is reluctant to take Chen Xiang under his wing. Pigsy instigates Sun Wukong against Erlang by reminding him of their past animosities. A fight breaks out with the arrival of Erlang at Wukong’s cave, following which Sun Wukong takes Chen Xiang in.
After learning some magic arts, Chen Xiang sneaks off to Huashan to see his mother and almost gets caught there. Chen Xiang proceeds to Luoyang only to find out that the fairies have all been captured by the freaks and that his father is dead. To save his mother and resurrect his father, Chen Xiang charges to Hades and the Celestial Court, and meets a host of deities and fairies like the King of Hell, the Jade Emperor, Heavenly King Li, the Ox Demon King, the Iron Fan Princess, Tripitaka and the Goddess of Mercy, some of which are friends and others foes.

This post is off topic but I asking for help:
Jiao En-Jun (Erlang Deity) had act in a chinese drama with (I cant remember).. The drama s on him as the emperor..just when he was born, he was taken from his real mother to the king's concubine and the real princess (whose mother is the concubine) ,is also new-born was pass to his real mother. Why switch? because the concubine wanted to be the empress but her child is a gal, not a guy so she ask her men to make the switch by snatching. Before letting them take her daughter, she bite her making a mark on her arm.. His real mother was angry with the concubine for taking her son and wanted to take revenge so she order a maid to put the real princess at the door of the place where prositutes stay. This maid bite the princess on another side of her arm. These prositutes become the baby's mothers and bring up her.
When they grow up... the empress wanted the prince (Jiao En-Jun) to be with his real mother's daughter (she only got one bite, the real mother did not know her maid had bite another and the empress also don noe so she tot that her daughter only have one bite). the empress thought that the girl is her real daughter, she did not know that her daughter was sent to the prositutes when a baby. She want her daughter to marry the fake prince.. then both will be the empress and emperor.
To cut short, the prince do not like the girl but fell in love with another girl (staying with prositutes but she is not one)(the real princess). The empress obviously objected. Later, then know that the girl is her real daughter. At the end, the fake prince and the real princess stay in the palace and get together..
The ending: the fake prince and princess know the truth. The empress and his real mother too. There is a fighting between a enunch and a "hero", both died. (the enunch is bad. The "hero" wanted to amend his wrong of snatching the baby princess away by making her together with the prince but he did not know she is actually his friend (the one that has prositutes for mothers). He tot is the real mother's daughter and he been helping her. But later, when he know the real one is his friend, he happily help.) The real mother was injured somehow (I forgot how come, but if correct, I think she wanted to shield her son, who is the prince). Before she died, she told her son to take good care of the princess and love her. Her relationship with the empress become alright. The princess and the prince r togther. The princess talked to her mother and asked her to build a house in the palace for her 101 mothers (I think s 101, or is it 100?!).
So my qn is what is the title of this drama? I forgot. Hoping someone here can tell me..ASAP.. Thanx.

that is what this Lotus Lantern is about. If you are talking about another one with Jimmy Lin in it than that is a total different story. The one above is about two girls who sacrificed their lives for the Axe.

Did the guy whom the 2 girls sacrificed themselves for love anyone? I was just wondering because I don't want to watch a series where all the women go completely gaga over the leading guy while he's just cool and indifferent. I prefer strong and willful girls who are discreet and don't throw themselves at guys or act jealous all the time.

yep I watched this when it was showing in China too. It was really good in my opinion.
the guy loved the little fox, Xiao Yu. I wanted him with Ding Xiang though because I always tend to root for the underdog..
